WhiteSmith Marketing Group was established in 1999 by Lisa Smith Odendaal and Terri White. We each bring over 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising, project management, planning, special events, writing, and public relations. And in the last few years, we’ve added social media to the mix.
Our clients range in size from small businesses to national companies. We’ve worked with healthcare providers, manufacturers, non-profits, transit districts, and service organizations. What do they all have in common? They are doing good work and are ready to move to the next level.
Terri White
As WhiteSmith's co-founder, Terri has trouble coloring inside the lines. She's always looking for the fresh idea, the new approach or an excuse to make something fun. She is the company's chief storyteller in print, online, and in person.
Lisa Odendaal
As WhiteSmith's other co-founder and chief strategist, Lisa directs, manages, and creates on every project. She loves developing creative concepts for clients – everything from fonts and colors to layout and design ideas. She isn't content until the message is right, the plan is in place, and the system is running so the client doesn't have details to manage.
Complete Marketing/Advertising Solutions – We specialize in the ability to imagine, develop, execute, and analyze any or all aspects of marketing campaign development.
Market Planning and Research – We believe this is the best place to start. We help you find out what customers, constituents, and the community really want and what perceptions they have. Then recommend a straightforward plan to reach your goals.
Project Management – Miracles. We believe in them, but we also know that great results come from good planning. It’s our job to make sure that a project doesn’t cost more or take longer than it should. We define the scope of the project, coordinate and evaluate each step, find the resources to get the job done right and follow the project until you are satisfied. We will oversee every detail of a project – from inception to completion – and all the small steps in between.
Special Events and Unique Ideas – This is where we have the most fun. We create the unique and effective elements to bring the right people to your business, tradeshow booth, or event. And then we help you establish lasting, genuine relationships with customers, employees, media and your community. By imagining what “could” be, we have stretched the definition of marketing.
OUR WORK
Project Highlights: For the last 12 years, we’ve enjoyed working as part of the marketing team at Leatherneck Hardware. We helped develop an identity for the company that manufacturers some of the most popular sliding door hardware in the world. Most recently, our challenge was to help launch the Flat Track by Leatherneck Hardware product line to existing and new customers. With a combination of logo and identity development, collateral materials, media campaign, social media and website development, Flat Track has become the company’s fastest growing line of hardware.
Solutions: Website development and SEO, series of brochures, Google ad, blog development, Facebook ad campaign, trade show display, recruitment ads and electronic newsletter.
Project Highlights: In Touch Pharmaceuticals was looking for a marketing partner to take the company’s marketing to the next level. They asked us to coordinate all marketing efforts, allowing them to focus on providing pharmaceutical services for long term care facilities in the Midwest. The team approach has resulted in the acquisition of new clients, the development of targeted materials and a unified message and brand.
Solutions: Team approach to contact a potential national client including 50+ page business proposal, custom cookies, and embossed leather binder, all put together in the most fun custom packaging ever. Ongoing development of brand-specific print materials and brochures, article and trade journal writing projects, and creative sales tools including a custom pill bottle and fun sales leave-behinds.
Project: Davis-Houk Mechanical Contractors wanted to develop a strong identity in in the markets they serve for commercial mechanical work. They asked us to start with their existing logo and colors - and build from there. They wanted to establish an online presence to showcase the unique and recognizable projects where they have been involved.
Solutions: Website creation and hosting, photo shoots, printed folder, insert sheets highlighting each area of the company.
Project: The Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District came to us with several fairly complex requests – they needed user insight to redesign a multi-layered website, gather public opinion regarding an upcoming referendum issue, and to hear directly from stakeholders as they built a strategic plan. Over the course of the last few years, we have partnered to gather critical, decision making data through a series of focus groups, online surveys and one-on-one meetings with community leaders.
Solutions: Investment of time to gather details about the project. Designing and executing a solution including research of riders, community leaders and potential customers. Final results reported in action-oriented executive summary, marketing plan and presentations.
Project: When the regional McDonald’s owners wanted to reimagine and launch the newest McDonald’s store, they invited us to be on the team. Through a series of “Dream Team” meetings, together we unveiled the Rock and Roll McDonald’s. The event included invitation CD’s with summer’s best music and a personalized musical invite, a VIP event with music and giveaways, and special touches that made it one-of-a-kind.
Solutions: Identity creation, CD invitation development and packaging, special event that drew several hundred guests.
